Chuck wall shelf system comprises six flexible wooden planks which are clamped together at their ends by means of stainless steel clips.
The delicate lines seem like paper thin conductions flowing along the books Chuck is holding.
It makes us think of a water balloon that, the more you put in it, the more it expands and the more exciting it gets.
To stay in marine spheres, with a little bit of imagination the shelving system is reminiscent of a beautiful shell, which can open and close, containing ordinary books or surprising objects you would’t expect at a book shelf.
Each shelf can be lifted separately to put in books or beautiful objects. In this manner, the shelf system always is given a different shape.
The shelves can be bent and shaped to your needs and preferences. When items are inserted the design is automatically opened up. This way the stunning shelf reveals its contents like a pearl in a oyster.
To us the beautiful design has some resemblance to an origami Asian hand fan. Especially when viewed in this empty appearance.
The shelf has been created by Natascha Harra-Frischkorn, who has won the Red Dot design award for Furniture 2014 with this project.
