The V1 Chair, by Ukranian design lab ODESD2, is the ultimate in contemporary multifunctional seating.
The chair consists of a simple cushioned bench made from a wooden frame, encompassed by a head-height semicircular backing that cocoons those seated within for complete privacy.
The designers, writing that they have “returned personal space to the man,” have created this piece with the ‘information overload’ of modern society in mind.
The chair’s exterior is constructed from lightweight aluminium, with the backing and base covered in felt to absorb sound.
The backing of the chair creates a private nook for the user in any space in which the chair is placed, and ODESD2 note that the “acoustic atmosphere” of this nook is designed to allow those seated to quietly focus on themselves.
The V1 Chair seats up to two people, and has a variety of uses.
A custom inbuilt floating table can be used to hold a laptop computer or a book, while those with shorter legs will find it comfortable to sit horizontally to relax on the piece’s large soft cushions.
The V1 Chair is available made-to-order now at Kiev-based designbureau ODESD2.
