TRACKS is a stylish extendable table with under the translucent table top two parallel steel beams that show the extension mechanism, both from above and from the side.
Designer Alain Gilles, who was voted as the 2012 Designer of the Year, said about this creation:
“From a design point of view, I don’t like extendable tables. They are extremely convenient, but the extensions are generally just added on to the table, or fully hidden so the table doesn’t tell its story. I knew I had to show the mechanism and turn it into a lively part of the table that would show the possibility of transformation.”
The inspiration for the design came from the railroad crossing gates and signage at construction sites. There can be made a choice from the various steel beams, depending on the preference for a youthful, sleek or more artistic look.
There are many extendable tables, but this one is exceptional.
The table has two parallel bars as the sleepers of a railway. The table top of clear transparent or smoked glass is available in sizes 160/260 cm x 90 cm – 190/300 cm x 100 cm – 220/330 cm x 100 cm.
You can choose the metal frame of the beams in various colors: red, blue, saffron yellow, mint green, anthracite gray, black and white, plus other colors on request. The wood legs in ash (natural or brushed gray) or American walnut.
